Implemented Active-Passive
Infrastructure with FortiGate Firewall

We implemented a Fortigate firewall in an active-passive setup across different Availability Zones on GCP, providing enhanced security as Jindal Power Limited migrated workloads to the cloud. This solution ensures high availability. The deployment not only reduced operational costs but also strengthened network protection with centralized security and data replication.

The challenge

Previously Jindal Power Limited (JPL) were using Palo Alto firewall, which was about to expire. Jindal were migrating its workloads to the cloud and somewhere JPL decision influenced with the same. JPL has seen the scalability, advanced security features and resilience of the cloud environments. For their network protection they show the keen preference for Fortigate firewall instead of Palo Alto.

The solution

We created active-passive environment across different AZ and support the client to implement the centralized security of the GCP infra which is to be planned to migrate for their multiple application and databases. We used two different Fortigate firewall one in each environment that provide several layer of protection. We mirror the same with all the network configuration in passive environment

The result

Fortigate Firewall has added extra layer of security to their environment, and the deployment in GCP with Active-Passive environment has reduced the client ongoing operational cost as well as ensure full security with high availability in case of any failover happened to the active setup.
