Requirement / Challenges

The client hosted their SAP workloads on-premises earlier and seeks to transition them to the Google Cloud Platform. They require the establishment of a Landing Zone alongside the migration of SAP workloads and the configuration of infrastructure for new SAP applications.

Solution Highlights:
  • All resources are provisioned within the Mumbai region.
  • In consideration of security, a VPN tunnel has been established from the GCP Cloud (utilizing a Fortinet firewall) to the on-premise location. Additionally, VPC peering has been set up between the Network Hub VPC and both the Prod and Non-prod VPCs
  • In pursuit of performance optimization, solely SAP-certified instances are selected. Specialized disks, boasting high IOPS, are allocated for HANA data and logs. Hosting of all servers occurs on Compute Engine instances, adhering to the Infrastructure as a Service (IAAS) model.
  • For new implementation workloads, the process involves comprehensive installation, integration, and configuration. Meanwhile, migration workloads utilize the backup and restore method for data migration, facilitated by HANA Studio.
  • Cloud Armor is configured to bolster network security, offering robust protection against DDoS attacks, application breaches, and web security threats.
  • The Cloud Foundation service for the landing zone facilitates the secure deployment, utilization, and scaling of Google Cloud services

Benefits:

By migrating their SAP workloads into the Landing Zone architecture on GCP client benefits from:

  • Centralized Management: The Landing Zone offers xa centralized platform for streamlined SAP migration management, reducing complexity and enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Scalability and Flexibility: With the Landing Zone, the client gains scalability and flexibility in resource allocation, optimizing resource utilization and minimizing costs
  • Enhanced Security: Migration to the Landing Zone ensures inheritance of robust security features, including network segmentation and encryption, ensuring data security and regulatory compliance.
  • Overall, migrating SAP workloads into the Landing Zone architecture enhances operational efficiency, scalability, security, and resilience, enabling the client to realize the full benefits of cloud technology while mitigating risks associated with migration.
